!IMPORTANT! This is to be done 3 weeks PRIOR to the desired conception date. DO NOT attempt this during pregnancy or if you think you could be pregnant. Try to avoid pregnancy at least during the first 2 weeks of doing this- don't use synthetic birth control (i.e. the pill, depo provera, etc).
THE BENEFITS
This program will help prevent or ease morning sickness in pregnancy and also increase your energy level, stabilize mood swings, and give you a general feeling of well-being. This is also beneficial for dads-to-be before conception to ensure that proper DNA messaging from his sperm is received by the egg. Conception typically occurs within 3 weeks, if not on the first "try". This is also great for flushing out remaining synthetic birth control toxins, although you should discontinue any chemical birth control (the pill, depo provera) 6 months prior to conception.
WHY THIS WORKS
There are 2 reasons for nausea in pregnancy:
1. The liver becomes overburdened metabolizing a new hormone, HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) - the hormone responsible for turning a pregnancy test positive. Completing this program will "clean house" in your liver so there is no waste or unnecessary toxins to interfere with your liver's functioning during this vulnerable time.
2. Low blood sugar is the other culprit. This is easily remedied by incorporating fruits or natural sweeteners i.e. honey, maple syrup, into your diet.
THE BASICS
Set aside 3 weeks prior to conception:
All 3 weeks: make sure you have an adequate water source and drink at least a half gallon to a gallon a day. Reverse Osmosis water is the best, but take measures to avoid tap water. Also take prenatal supplements ( I HIGHLY recommend Synergy from HerballyGrounded.com) or multi vitamin, three 10 grain brewer's yeast tablets, a "green" supplement (I HIGHLY recommend Extra Greens from HerballyGrounded.com) i.e. spirulina, wheat grass, black strap molasses, chlorrophyll, and an EFA supplement, and definately take a liver supplement. You may also consider taking something that will help move your bowels, like On The Move.
Week 1: go on the whole foods diet, described below
Week 2: go on the juice "fast", described below, for 3-7 days
Week 3: return to the whole foods diet, moderately adding free range, hormone and antibiotic-free seafood, beef, and other organ meats - or flax seed products if your vegetarian- for EFA intake essential for fetal brain growth. Also make an extra effort to increase your non-meat protein intake that's essential for fetal tissue, skeletal, nerve, and internal organ development.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you have a typical "American" diet of processed foods this may be very hard for you. It's worth it to stick to it, though. Even if your morning sickness wasn't buffered, you definitely will have a healthier, stronger baby than if you hadn't done this cleanse. Other things to expect:
1. Hunger the first 3 days of the juice fast. Even flu-like symptoms are typical as your intestines are moving waste out your body.
2. Going to the bathroom more than usual. Regular or coffeee enemas are also helpful during this time. Doing a colonics series is most beneficial.

HOW TO BREAK A FAST
This is very important. Consider it part of your fast. Do not overeat!. Gradually replace juices with solid food. I didn't break a fast correctly once and boy did I cramp up and pay the price. The following is suggested:
Day 1: Breakfast: half apple
Lunch: Homemade vegetable soup
Day 2: Breakfast: half apple, mild fruit, stewed fruit
Lunch: vegetable soup
Dinner: salad (no iceberg lettuce), small baked potato
Day 3: Breakfast: same as second
Lunch and dinner: cottage cheese, baked potato, yogurt, whole grain bread
Day 4: Breakfast: Go back to whole food diet, taking heed 3rd week instructions.
Not breaking your fast correctly may result in - how shall I say - a very painful bathroom experience and general horrible feeling.
